Patti (Passinault) Brown
Patti’s artistic style is inspired by the ocean and scenic views of the Pacific Northwest. After growing up on the lake shore in Michigan, she moved to the Seattle area in 1999 and began painting the beauty of the area.
She started with heavy bodied acrylics that involved hand mixed colors applied to canvas with brushes and palette knives.
While achieving some success with her earlier paintings, they never felt complete to the artist.
Her techniques have evolved to include “pour” mediums that consist of acrylic pigments mixed with a flowing medium. These pigments are poured over a surface and manipulated to create “cells” and fluid lines that wrap around the edges of the canvases.
Every piece is unique and invokes different perspectives and emotions. Each person who views her work sees something different. This is what inspires her to keep creating.
She is expanding her pours from the canvas to other surfaces including furniture and other household items.
